Press release: Surgent CPA Review announces hiring of Ryan Hirsch as director of market development

Hirsch will be responsible for increasing market development of Surgent’s University Pass product to accounting professors and major university accounting programs.

Surgent CPA Review is proud to announce the hiring of Ryan Hirsch as Director, Market Development (MDM), Universities. Hirsch will be responsible for increasing the awareness and market penetration of Surgent’s University PASS (UPASS) product among major university accounting programs.

Previously, Hirsch served as Vice President of the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) in Nashville, Tennessee, where he managed the Ethical Leadership Training and Development Division. His contributions to the division included growing the online ethics training program from 377 paid subscriptions to nearly 8,000 by instituting a new strategic marketing plan and increasing sales by more than $300,000 over the course of four years. Additionally, Hirsch served as public relations ambassador and public speaker for the division.

As a Surgent MDM, Hirsch will work in tandem with the marketing and market development teams to generate new opportunities for UPASS, an industry-first accounting curriculum solution that provides online tools for both educators and CPA candidates. Through UPASS, accounting professors can streamline critical classroom activities while providing students with up-to-date, AICPA-aligned content that is both comprehensive and intuitive. Powered by Surgent’s powerful adaptive learning platform, A.S.A.P.® Technology, professors can use UPASS to: create homework assignments with Surgent resources that include Surgent video lectures, notes, and text references; create quizzes and exams; monitor student progress with ReadySCORE™; and export critical data for LMS integration.

“As we continue our mission to help more students pass the CPA Exam, Ryan is an exciting addition to our Surgent team,” said Surgent Executive VP and co-founder, Liz Kolar. “His recent experience working closely with university accounting programs at NASBA makes him the ideal person to head our UPASS initiative. We look forward to increasing our presence on campuses, where we will continue to help both accounting educators and their students.”

“Any time you can offer a solution to educators that saves them time, while also enhancing their students’ learning experience, you have a strong foundation for a long-lasting, mutually beneficial partnership,” said Hirsch. “After interacting with Surgent’s education solutions first hand, I am excited to share these helpful resources with the rest of the academic community.”

Hirsch will also represent Surgent at a variety of levels including, but not limited to, hosting webinars, participating in accounting workshops, leading student presentations and attending career fairs.
