Press release: Surgent CPA Review to host virtual strategic discussion on CPA credential

Free virtual roundtable will feature several industry thought leaders and will include comprehensive Q&A from attendees

Surgent CPA Review is proud to host a free virtual roundtable titled, “Is the CPA License Losing Its Luster?” from 2 to 4 p.m. EST Tuesday, May 7, 2019. The strategic discussion will feature a panel of esteemed experts to evaluate the industry’s perceived value of the CPA credential, how artificial intelligence and machine learning will affect the profession, the CPA Exam itself, the pipeline from academia to CPA, and how the growing demand of other credentials, such as the EA and the CMA, will affect the credential’s demand.

Panelists will include: Dan Black, Global Recruiting Leader, Ernst & Young (EY); Susan Crosson, Director, Center for Advancing Accounting Education, American Accounting Association (AAA); Rick David, Chairman, UHY International and COO, UHY Advisors, Inc.; Chuck Kovach, National Director of Learning, CohnReznick; and Steve Maex, PhD Candidate, Temple University. Elizabeth Kolar, CPA, CGMA, Chief Knowledge Officer, Surgent will moderate the panel.

“Nearly every year for the past decade, the number of accounting graduates across the U.S. has risen, while the number of candidates sitting for the CPA Exam has either remained flat or declined,” Kolar said. “In some years that decline has been substantial. It’s important for us to understand why. We, as industry leaders need to examine potential causes and the long-lasting impacts of this decline, as well as any future issues facing the accounting industry. That is why we will be dedicating the final 30 minutes of the discussion to an audience Q&A.”

Registration for the virtual roundtable is free and available now at www.surgentcpareview.com/virtual-roundtable.
