Surgent CPA Review co-founder, Liz Kolar recently shared an overview of the REG section of the CPA Exam, and why she highly recommend candidates sit for the REG section in 2018. Here’s what she had to say:
President Trump’s Tax Cuts & Jobs Act was passed in December 2017, which means that the law will not be tested on the CPA Exam until January 2019. All candidates eligible to take the Exam in 2018 should do so, because once that takes effect on the test, it will be quite challenging!
The taxation portion of the Exam represents between 55-85% of your entire score score – so you really need to make sure that you’re adequately prepared! Most colleges offer only one semester on tax, and in the semester they might just cover individuals, or they might cover a little bit of everything. Regardless, the individual portion of taxation only accounts for 15-20% of the overall tax area.
